Chennai’s got a new beachside tiki bar and it is well worth the trek
How far will you go for a sundowner? Goa? Koh Samui? If you’re in Chennai, you only have to go as far as the Intercontinental, Mamallapuram. Luxury shack? Polynesian-style tiki bar? You decide. This casual bar (that takes its name from the iconic Beach Boys anthem) on the edge of the Bay of Bengal was seriously long overdue.
So, whether it’s a quiet romantic date or bonding with your Wolfpack, KokoMmo begs for your attention. It’s open by 5 pm, so you can sneak out of office early on a Friday evening and grab a sundowner. Of course, you can stay back for dinner; there’s enough on the menu to keep you interested.
The food menu is a mix of International and local favourites. From Amritsari fish tacos to Pork ribs to fresh catch of the day, there’s quite a lot in the mix. But it’s the cocktails that have our attention. There’s a nice blend of classics and twisted cocktails including a curry leaf martini. So, bring those beach shirts on.
