Oh Bao squeezes into the already long list of dining options in Delhi’s Def Col:
It’s only when I ask for directions to the Rest Room do I realise that Oh Bao is part of a complex maze within Moets’ other eateries in the cramped Def Col market. But once you are within the walls of the compact yet somewhat charming eatery you’re more than sorted. The decor is cozy – we’d say casual chic but that’s kinda overused. We dig the tiny Sushi bar and the showstopper lights. We wish some of that energy would rub off on the wait staff. Maybe it’s summer or may be it was just an off day but the service team was almost rudderless.
The Sushi rolls are clearly the highlight of the menu. Try the spicy Salmon Avocado roll – brilliant! We also gave the Thai Papaya salad a go and were mighty pleased. The menu has room for a mishmash of Asian; it’s delicious enough for you not to question the authenticity. The Steamed Baos – we’re told the Pork Bao is an absolute must-try, are one of their signatures; we leave that for another day. Oh Bao’s menu is perfect for that anytime snack; so you don’t need to land up at a Starbuck’s for that 5 pm catch up. We’d rather eat fresh Sushi Rolls than something that was baked 12 hours ago. And yes if that early evening catch up extends to dinner (like ours) did, there’s enough Asian fare (hearty mains included) and cocktails to keep you engaged.
