Chennai finally gets a taste of a quirky take on Chinese cuisine at a terrific location
The space: Manga-inspired design in a high-energy (albeit compact) space. It’s what we have come to have expect from Mamagoto and it sets a new tone for Asian dining in Chennai. Worth visiting for the interiors alone! It’s also one of those rare spaces that functions through the day – late lunch or early dinner anybody?
The grub: yes, all those favourites from the menus in Delhi and Bengaluru are here. If you go looking for the steamed dumplings – The Vegetarian Peking and the ‘street spicy’ Chicken dumplings are the pick, you won’t be disappointed. We love their irreverent reinterpretation of the Khao Suey – the Chiang Mai station noodles and the homemade chocolate cake (Heck, it might not be an Asian dessert but who cares!). We suspect that Mamagoto will be selling a lot of their Cucumber mint mix mocktail; summer’s always around the corner in Chennai.
Will we go back: Surely
